With this broader definition, so many people will be falling under dosha. But in reality, less than 3% of people have Manglik dosha. The reason is that there are many rules that can give an exemption from this dosha. What if the Ashtakoot is less than 18?

It is not great, but it is definitely not a deal breaker. It depends on the overall strength of the horoscope.
